Peoria man sentenced for gas station slaying
PEORIA— A Peoria man has been sentenced to 58 years in prison for the 2009 slaying of a gas station owner — the same sentence he received in 2010 before his conviction was reversed by an appeals court.
The (Peoria) Journal Star reports Ali L. Evans was retried in September and convicted of first-degree murder for the death of Anil Dhingra, who owned the Gas USA station in Peoria.
Evans was first convicted in 2010, but an appeals court later ordered a new trial after determining his comments to police were inadmissible in court.
Dhingra died after being shot four times.
A second man, 22-year-old Deangelo Lindsey, is serving a 52-year sentence for murder in the case.
