Fool the voters
To the Editor:
The huge tax-levy increase by the Crystal Lake City Council again shows us taxpayers what little regard our elected officials have for us.
While all businesses and families are trying to watch spending and control their budgets, Crystal Lake did not discuss belt tightening. It just considered how much of a tax increase it would pass.
Even worse, two of councilmen, Brett Hopkins and Cameron Hubbard, decided to duck the most important council meeting of the year. Remember, they wanted the voters to elect them because of all the nice things they said and the good deeds they would do to represent the taxpayers. Yet when it comes to the issue of increasing taxes, they slink away to avoid criticism.
These two should resign and let somebody else do the important job of representing the voters. Mr. Hopkins and Mr. Hubbard didn’t want the heat, so they should get out of the kitchen.
Thank you for your consideration.
