To the Editor:

This past Thanksgiving morning, 840 runners braved the cold weather to run the 2013 McHenry Turkey Trot for Hospice at East Campus in McHenry.

The 5K run commemorates the life of Carlene Siman and benefits JourneyCare Hospice in Barrington and Woodstock.

Siman Family Charities was formed to raise funds for the angels of JourneyCare who gave such wonderful care to our family matriarch as she fought cancer. Last year, the inaugural run netted $17,000. This year, we raised $27,000.

We want to thank all of our many sponsors, donors, volunteers, runners and supporters without whom we could not be successful. Your support means everything to us, and you will make a big difference in someone’s life at the most critical time.

Thank you one and all. The 2014 Turkey Trot for Hospice is already in the planning stages. Please plan to participate and help the angels.

Scott R. Siman
