Roundup: Amanze Egekeze's 32 points lead Huntley past F.W. Parker at Elgin

Amanze Egekeze scored 32 points Thursday to lead the Huntley boys basketball team to a 60-39 victory over Francis W. Parker at the Elgin Holiday Tournament. 

The Red Raiders, playing in the consolation bracket, outscored Parker, 19-8, in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win. Egekeze converted 13 shots, including two 3-pointers, to score more than half of Huntley's points.

Zach Gorney scored 10 points and Riley Wicks added seven. Huntley will play Corliss in the second-round of the consolation bracket at 5 p.m. Friday.

Also at the tournament, Dundee-Crown lost to Elgin, 56-37, in the championship bracket quarterfinals. The Chargers will play Rockford East in the fifth/seventh-place bracket at 12:15 p.m. Friday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Cary-Grove 59, Lake Park 47: At Mundelein, Katie Barker scored a game-high 28 points to lead the Trojans (10-5) to a victory over Lake Park in the consolation bracket at the Mundelein Holiday Classic.

C-G took a 32-18 lead into halftime, and from there was able to hold off Lake Park. Barker hit four 3-pointers and went 8 of 9 from the free-throw line. She also led the Trojans with five rebounds. Candace Cunningham scored nine points. and Abby Glaysher added six.
