CRYSTAL LAKE – The Land Conservancy of McHenry County is looking for volunteers for Woostock nature restoration projects in January.

Volunteers will help clear nonnative trees from an area that will be restored to wetland and oak woods at the Hennen Conservation Area on 4622 Dean St. That project will take place Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The other project scheduled on Jan. 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. would require volunteers to help clear nonnative brush from an oak savanna and along an area that is being opened up for a hiking trail. That work will be done at Westwood Conservation Area on 1524 Hillside Trail.

No experience is necessary and tools and refreshments will be provided at both events. For more information, contact Melissa Hormann at or 815-337-9502.

The Land Conservancy of McHenry County is a nonprofit conservation organization that works to preserve and restore natural, scenic and agricultural lands throughout the county.
