Police: Lake County men tried to sell drugs over Internet

WAUKEGAN – Two Lake County men were arrested on felony drug charges after allegedly posting a Craigslist ad selling prescription pills.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office learned about the post – that listed 120 Hydrocondone pills for sale for $360 – from the McHenry Police Department.

Detectives from Lake County met Thomas Brown, 20, of Lake Villa, and Daniel Swan, 22, of Fox Lake, at a Walgreens in Fox Lake to purchase the pills.

Both Brown and Swan were subsequently charged with unlawful possession of a look-alike substance and possession with the intent to deliver.

Brown also was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

During the drug buy, Brown attempted to evade arrest by ramming a minivan he was driving into an unmarked squad car, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

He was stopped a short time later.

For that, he also was charged with criminal damage to government supported property, resisting arrest, aggravated reckless driving and a handful of other traffic offenses, including driving without insurance and on a suspended license and leaving the scene of an accident.

Neither man had posted bond as of Thursday morning. Brown needs $2,500 to be released from the Lake County Jail, and Swan needs $500.
