Published: Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014 4:46 p.m. CST

CARY – A Cary family was unharmed Tuesday after a fire started on a porch to their second-story home.

The Cary Fire Protection District responded at 1:29 p.m. to a structure fire at 33 S. Route 14. Firefighters arrived to see a porch attached to an exterior stairwell on fire, said Lt. Michael Douglas.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire within five minutes, he said. The cause is under investigation, but it's not believed to be suspicious.

No one was injured in the incident. The building was split between a first-floor business and a second-floor home, Douglas said. Departments from Fox River Grove and Barrington Countryside assisted Cary.
