Main Street magic

To the Editor:

Thanks to everyone involved in this year’s Christmas on Main Street display at the McHenry County Historical Society Museum in Union.

More than 200 visitors saw the throwback display, compiled by Dave Harms of Crystal Lake and Lynne Eltrevoog of Union.

Special thanks also to The Salvation Army for loaning us a vintage kettle and uniform, and to Dawn Peterson of Oney’s Tree Farm in Woodstock, as well as Richard Harms and James Riedel of Countryside Flowers, Garden Center & Nursery in Crystal Lake. Their donations of fresh Christmas trees were pivotal in recreating a tree lot, and it infused the stage with the holiday scent of pine.

Through these efforts and those of many other volunteers, the magic of Christmas past was brought to life yet again. See you in 2014.
