Thoughtful neighbors

To the Editor:

File this note under the better-late-than-never file. Please forgive me for being so tardy with this note.

A huge thank you to our neighbors in Crystal Lake in the Park Phase 1. For the 20th year in a row, we asked our neighbors to donate food at Thanksgiving for the Community Harvest in support of the Crystal Lake Food Pantry.

As in the past 19 years, they responded with their hearts and their wallets. Thank you so much for caring. You made a difference. Your generosity was so impressive. More homes donated than ever before. Those that donated were generous. We were able to collect more food than ever before. Five homes even dropped off food after the initial pick-up date.

All of the donations made it to the food pantry. Unfortunately, with the economy, there is a lot of need out there, but our neighbors helped in a big way. It took two vans to get all the food to the Community Harvest. How great is that?

God willing and with your help, we’ll do this again next Thanksgiving season.

Thank you. We are proud to be your neighbors.

I won’t embarrass him here, but a special thank you to our neighbor who donated close to $100 worth of food. You know who you are.

We wish all of our neighbors God’s blessings in 2014.
