Mom’s final days
To the Editor:
On Dec. 27 at the age of 93, my mom passed into the arms of her loving Savior.
She had spent the past three years at Fair Oaks Health Care Center in Crystal Lake. During her stay, mom experienced a steady decline in health to the point where she spent most her time in a continual sleep.
While we loved mom and didn’t want her to die, we were left wondering her purpose for remaining here in this state of being. All along, the reason was right there in front of us. It allowed the staff at Fair Oaks to provide comfort and minister to mom in her final days.
The care mom received during her stay at Fair Oaks was extraordinary. She was treated as an honored guest, a member of the Fair Oaks family.
Mom was always well kept and clean. She was pampered, her finger nails always painted. Mom was always handled gently. There were never any signs of neglect or abuse. She was loved by the people providing her care.
Contrary to the negative things frequently said or heard regarding nursing homes, I want to personally thank the staff at Fair Oaks and publicly praise them for their facility and the care that they provide.
