HUNTLEY – Crews from the Illinois Tollway Authority should finish filling potholes along Interstate 90 near Huntley on Sunday after motorists started to report damaged tires earlier in the weekend.
The wet and cold weather late Friday evening created the potholes on I-90 between Elgin and Rockford, an Illinois Tollway spokesperson said. The westbound construction zone between Route 47 in Huntley and Route 20 in Marengo saw the worst of the road craters.
But that stretch of old pavement was already scheduled to be reconstructed later this year, the Tollway said. Crews worked overnight Friday through Saturday to repair the worst potholes.
Contractors should finish the emergency repairs Sunday. Motorists concerned about damage to their cars on interstate highways can file a report with the Illinois State Police at 630-241-6800, ext. 5042.
