CARPENTERSVILLE – A part-time firefighter charged with punching a woman in the face multiple times has been on unpaid leave at both departments he works for since the altercation.

Jason S. Elders, 39, who was arrested about 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, in St. Charles Township, has been on unpaid leave from the West Dundee Fire Department and Carpentersville Fire Department since Dec. 24 and Dec. 26, respectively.

Elders was making $15.81 per hour at Carpentersville and $13.26 per hour in West Dundee.

He faces misdemeanor battery charges in Kane County stemming from the physical altercation with the unnamed woman.

Witnesses told police Elders got on top of the 37-year-old woman and punched her in the face several times, Kane County Sheriff's Lt. Pat Gengler said. According to the police report, family and friends pulled Elders off the woman.

The incident is alleged to have occurred in the driveway of a home near where Edlers had been attending a Christmas party earlier that night.

The woman was transported to Delnor Hospital in Geneva for injuries that were not life threatening.

He will next appear in court on Jan. 22 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
