Eliminate speed-limit signs

Published: Friday, Jan. 17, 2014 5:30 a.m. CDT

To the Editor:

I have been reading that the Northwest Herald is right up to the minute with news about new speed-limit signs.

Why? Nobody cares whether there are signs or not. The Illinois State Police, local police and drivers don’t read the signs or don’t pay any attention to what they say. So why waste money on the signs?

The traffic is moving at 80 to 90 mph. Or it moves, in some areas, at 5 mph. So eliminate the signs that state the minimum of 40 mph.

The state could save some money on signs and the labor to install them. Also cut police officers. They will have less to do.
