MAKANDA, Ill. – Southern Illinois authorities say a 28-year-old man is facing a first-degree murder charge for the slaying of a Missouri woman whose body was found along a Jackson County road.

Brandon L. Banks was arrested Thursday evening in St. Louis after Illinois authorities issued a first-degree murder warrant for the death of 40-year-old Marsha Ann Brown.

Both Banks and Brown are from Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Brown's body was found Tuesday in tall weeds in a small embankment near Makanda.

Authorities have not released details about the cause of her death.

It's not clear if Banks has an attorney or when he'll be brought back to Illinois.

Meanwhile, a funeral for Brown is scheduled to take place Monday evening in Jackson, Mo.
