A winter weather advisory in effect until 6 a.m. Saturday for McHenry County, as winds of 25 to 35 mph are expected to lead to blowing snow, the National Weather Service said.

Falling snow also is expected to develop Friday afternoon and evening with 1 to 3 inches of accumulation possible, the weather service said.

With the blowing and drifting snow, visibility will be limited. The weather service urged caution when traveling.
