Accident near Harvard sends five to the hospital

HARVARD – Five people were sent to the hospital with serious injuries Sunday after a two-vehicle accident along Alden Road near Harvard, firefighters said.

The Harvard Fire Protection District responded at 4:43 p.m. to a multi-vehicle accident with entrapped passengers on Alden Road, north of McGuire Road, Chief Steve Harter said.

Two people were taken to Centegra Hospital – Woodstock, and three were sent to Centegra Hospital – McHenry with serious injuries, Harter said. Officials cleared the roadway by 6 p.m.

The McHenry County Sheriff's office is handling the incident, Harter said. Sheriff officials declined comment about the accident on Sunday night.
