BLOOMINGTON – McLean County officials are investigating the death of an Illinois State University student whose body was found in a Bloomington field.

Coroner Beth Kimmerling said the body of 19-year-old Yusuf J. Ahmad was discovered Sunday morning around 7:30 a.m. It was found about three miles from campus.

The Oak Lawn native didn’t have any obvious signs of trauma, but officials said he wasn’t dressed properly for the weather conditions.

The National Weather Service said the temperature in the area when Ahmad’s body was found was about 23 degrees, although the wind chill made it feel like 7 degrees.

An autopsy was expected Monday.
