Author, literary agent to host workshop

MCHENRY – A best-selling author and a literary agent will host a workshop to help would-be authors craft the perfect query letter.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 15 in the meeting room of the McHenry Public Library, 809 N. Front St.

Best-selling author Bret Nicholaus and literary agent Joe Durepos will walk attendees through the essential steps and little-known tips for crafting query letters that catch the attention of agents and publishers.

Take-home query letter writing kits will be provided for every participant as well as a box lunch.

Nicholaus, has written 26 books since 1992, including two national best-sellers as well as several regional best-sellers.

Durepos has sold more than 150 titles as a literary agent. Many of the books he has been an agent for have ended up on best-seller lists.

Registration costs $5 and must be done in person at the library. The fee is nonrefundable.

The workshop is for adults 18 years and older.
