Green jobs topic of Tuesday presentation at McHenry County College

CRYSTAL LAKE – Residents will have an opportunity to learn about jobs and training in the “green” economy in the first event of the 2014 Great Lakes Bioneers McHenry County Speaker Series.

The first lecture of the three-part winter series will feature Sarah White, who is nationally known for her writings on education for sustainability and social change, giving a presentation at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Luecht Conference Center at McHenry County College.

White, who also chairs the National Working Group on Solar Career Pathways for the U.S. Department of Energy, will focus on jobs, renewable energy and the future of power sources.

The free event is part of the Bioneers Speaker Series that strives to inform the public on environmental topics and their effect on the local economy and community.
