McHENRY – The Illinois Small Business Development Center at McHenry County College received a $17,500 grant from Castle Bank to help fund additional services and educational seminars to small-business owners and entrepreneurs.

The funding came through the Friends of MCC Foundation.

“These funds will go a long way in providing additional services to ISBDC clients and more support for small businesses in our community,” Kristi Patterson, manager of Illinois Small Business Development Center at MCC, said in a news release.

The funding came through the Community Reinvestment Act, which encourages banks to invest in their communities. Castle Bank also supports other small-business centers in the area.

The Illinois Small Business Development Center at MCC is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
