CRYSTAL LAKE – Texas Roadhouse, 385 Cog Circle, will opens its 306-seat restaurant Feb. 24, according to city officials.

The southwestern-themed steakhouse has taken over the space formerly occupied by T.G.I. Friday’s near the intersection of Routes 14 and 31.

Texas Roadhouse is a casual dining restaurant chain known for its free peanuts, country music and lively atmosphere.

The Kentucky-based chain has more than 400 locations in 48 states and two international locations in Dubai and Kuwait.

The walls of the chain’s restaurants feature murals specifically designed for the local community, and each is approved by Kent Taylor, the company’s founder and chairman, according to a company fact sheet.

Texas Roadhouse first announced plans for the Crystal Lake restaurant in late 2012. T.G.I. Friday’s closed its doors June 30.
