CRYSTAL LAKE – McHenry County College is offering two-day and three-day training programs beginning Feb. 15 for students looking to update their medical coding skills.

The two-day classes will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 15 and Feb. 16. Those registering for the three-day course also will meet on Feb. 22. This class will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Room A112 at MCC, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.

ICD-10 is an upgraded health care diagnostic and procedural coding system and has been mandated by the federal government for use in the health care industry beginning Oct. 1. This two-day boot camp explains the structure, format and content of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS. These new classification systems will replace the current ICD-9-CM and ICD-9-PCS classification systems.

Those attending the three-day boot camp will have an additional day dedicated to learning the structure, format and conventions of ICD-10-PCS. Illustrations and exercises will be used to reinforce these concepts.

The fee for the two-day boot camp is $599, and the fee for the three-day boot camp is $799. For information, call MaryAnn Dimitrov at 847-915-0360. To register, call the MCC Registration office at 815-455-8588 and refer to course ID: QHC C10-001 for the two-day boot camp, and QHC C12 001 for the three-day boot camp.
