CRYSTAL LAKE – A three-vehicle accident at Route 176 and Terra Cotta Road sent one person to the hospital Thursday afternoon, police said.

All three vehicles were headed east on Route 176 when one car rear-ended the vehicle in front of it, pushing that vehicle into another car, Crystal Lake police Sgt. Steve Renje said.

A passenger in the third vehicle was taken to Centegra Hospital – Woodstock with injuries that are not life-threatening, he said.

While citations have not been issued yet, Renje said one will be issued to the driver of the car that initiated the chain-reaction accident.

The accident, which occurred about 5:30 p.m., did not close the intersection.
