Keeping county safe

To the Editor:

I am tired of the political infighting of the Republican Party, especially in McHenry County. I can’t understand why there is such a divide between camps for sheriff. Either crime in this county has increased like in neighboring counties, or it hasn’t.

Being one who likes to verify what people tell me, I researched McHenry County crime numbers. Crime is decreasing in McHenry (proportionately). In fact, compared to surrounding counties such as Lake, Kane and DuPage, we have clearly less crime and more importantly, less violent crime. Don’t take my word for it, check out neighborhoodscout.com.

How can anyone make an argument for a change in leadership when the undersheriff is willing to take a larger role in keeping McHenry County safe?

I say, give Andy Zinke a promotion. Make Zinke the next sheriff.
