McHenry County Historical Society looking for tour guides

UNION – The McHenry County Historical Society is looking for retired teachers, historical re-enactors, and theater majors to serve as tour guides for various attractions at the society.

Interested volunteers can act as a one-room schoolhouse teacher in an original country school or as chaperones for students during tours of the society's 1847 Gannon log cabin and 1870 historical museum.

The society will also host a free training session for interested guides at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, inside the society's museum, 6422 Main St., Union.

For more information and to reserve a training slot, contact the society at (815) 923-2267 or email the society at info@mchsonline.org.
