Crystal Lake Central senior Claire Dalman was named to the IHSA All-State Academic Team Friday.

Dalman was one of 26 student-athletes around the state to make the first team. To be selected, athletes must have participated in two IHSA-sanctioned sports, have a GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have demonstrated outstanding citizenship.

Dalman competes in cross country and track and field. She took fifth in the Class 3A pole vault at the IHSA Girls Track and Field State Meet at 11-9.

Woodstock’s Zach Bellavia, who also competes in cross country and track and field, was selected as one of 50 athletes to receive honorable mention. Bellavia was 44th at the Fox Valley Conference Cross Country Meet last season.

“This is a tremendous honor and I hope every student who was nominated takes a great deal of pride in all that they have accomplished,” IHSA Executive Director Marty Hickman said. “These students are the embodiment of what it means to take advantage of the entire high school experience.”

Every IHSA member school can nominate one male and one female student-athlete for the All-State Academic team. The 26 members of the All-State Academic Team will be honored at a banquet on Monday, April 21 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Bloomington.
