Germany's Arnd Peiffer leaves the shooting range during the men's biathlon 4x7.5K relay at the 2014 Winter Olympics, Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, in Krasnaya Polyana, Russia.

KRASNAYA POLYANA, Russia (AP) — German biathletes Erik Lesser and Arnd Peiffer just can't get enough of the Olympics.

The biathlon events in Sochi are over, so the pair has decided to switch sports.

They will start in the men's 50-kilometer cross-country race on Sunday — one day after they helped Germany win silver in the 4x7.5K relay that concluded biathlon at the Games.

Germany had still two open spots for Sunday's cross-country "marathon," enabling the biathlon pair to start alongside two-time world champion Axel Teichmann and Thomas Bing.

"How many times does a biathlete get the chance to compete in an Olympic cross-country race?" Peiffer said. He and Lesser have enough FIS points to be allowed to start in the event.

"What else can happen to us than finishing last?" Peiffer said. "I am more specialized in races over 7.5 kilometers so I expect a very tough race. Erik is not so tall, he might have an advantage over me on this soft track."

And what about a celebration with the biathlon team for winning silver?

"We are happy to postpone our medal party to Sunday night."
