McHenry County College to host Midwest Strength and Conditioning Clinic

CRYSTAL LAKE – McHenry County College will give residents an opportunity to improve their health and fitness plan with a clinic led by a nationally acclaimed strength coach.

The college will host the 2014 Midwest Strength and Conditioning Clinic from 8 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. March 15 in the Luecht Conference Center, located at 8900 U.S. Hwy. 14 in Crystal Lake.

Keynote speaker Jedd Johnson, a strength coach and host of the strength and conditioning website will present "Incorporating Strongman Feats of Strength into a Training Program.”

Johnson has set multiple records in grip sport competition and has attained various certifications and is a three-time North American Grip Champion. He has written several e-books and produced DVDs covering nail bending, phone book ripping, card tearing, horseshoe bending, Strongman training, Strongman feats and more.

The clinic will feature workshops on practical nutrition advice, high school football strength and conditioning, collegiate soccer training, active older adults, grip strength, athlete assessment and more. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. with registration and a continental breakfast. Continuing education credits are available to those who attend.

Cost is $99 per person or $49 for high school and college students through March 7. After March 7, cost is $119 and $59, respectively. Lunch is included in the fee.
