To the Editor:
As a citizen, parent and employee in McHenry County, I take safety in my home, at my children’s schools and my place of employment to be of utmost importance.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office sets the expectation of how effective and safe the county is. The sheriff sets the tone in his department.
On two separate occasions in the past few months, I have seen Undersheriff Andy Zinke working “the road” by directing traffic and assisting a disabled motorist. As a 10-plus-year resident of the county, I have never seen the sheriff or undersheriff working in such a capacity.
Mr. Zinke remains to be about the safety of the residents of the county. How often does management put themselves in their subordinates’ shoes? Mr. Zinke has demonstrated his commitment to the county and the residents of the county.
