Trout fishing season opens April 5

The 2014 spring trout fishing season will begin at 5 a.m. April 5, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources announced in a news release Tuesday.

To participate in the trout fishing program, anglers must have a valid Illinois fishing license and an inland trout stamp. Licenses and stamps are available for purchase at DNR direct license and permit locations, or at www.dnr.illinois.gov or by calling DNR at 1-888-673-7648.

Stocked sites for the trout program in McHenry County include: Lake Atwood, Hollows Conservation Area, McHenry County Conservation District and Piscasaw Creek.
