Winter recognition

Published: Monday, March 3, 2014 5:30 a.m. CST

To the Editor:

As winter comes to an end soon (hopefully), it is only right to recognize all the men and women who have battled Mother Nature’s relentless winter grasp on McHenry County.

In addition, I feel it is necessary to thank all of our families for their support of all of us who have spent more hours in plow trucks than with them this winter.

At times this winter, spouses have become single parents for days on end, getting kids ready for school, making meals and keeping households running by themselves.

Families sacrificed time together on Christmas Eve and day and New Year’s Eve and day to name a few, so crews could make sure the traveling public going to spend time with their families could get there safely.

So a special thank-you to everyone who supports us as we relentlessly battle Mother Nature whenever that call comes in for us to get back in our trucks.
