Eagles have left

To the Editor:

The eagles have come and gone.

You first reported on them while they were feeding down at the Algonquin dam. After scores of people came to view these magnificent birds, being shy, they moved on.

While walking my dog in the Cary-Grove area, I noticed 15 of these symbols of our country’s freedom – in one tree alone. I quietly walked off as not to disturb them. WGN-TV got wind of their presence and sent a team to film and possibly interview them.

Well, they’ve moved on again, not knowing whether it was time or just all the attention. I can’t help but think we could have waited for that report until they left on their own.

As I’m writing this, I notice something is going on in the trees in the woods behind my house. Whoops, maybe I better wait and see what happens first.
