Established tradition

To the Editor:

I agree with the Northwest Herald’s endorsement of Mary McClellan for McHenry County clerk.

As an assistant state’s attorney, I handled legal issues for Kathy Schultz for the first 25 years that she was the clerk. I also worked with McClellan when she was with the McHenry County State’s Attorney Office. When Schultz became clerk, she had been with the office for 20 years. During her tenure as clerk, she became a seasoned legal scholar as to the functions and duties of her office, and was a respected legal expert on Illinois election laws.

McClellan has the legal education (law degree), training and personal character to quickly take over the leadership of this very legally oriented position and carry on in Schultz’s established tradition.

I urge you to vote for Mary McClellan.
