Friends of Algonquin library planning book sale

ALGONQUIN – The Friends of the Algonquin Area Public Library is holding their annual spring book sale.

About 30,000 adult and children's fiction and nonfiction books in hardcover and paperback will be for sale, according to a news release.

Most of the items in the sale will be priced $1 or $2, the news release said. Special books, audio books and video games are priced $3 and higher.

The sale raises $8,000 to $11,000 a year, said Virginia Freyre, community outreach librarian.

Money from the sale goes toward buying equipment at the library, such as printers, t-shirts for summer reading, and books handed out during parades, Freyre said.

The sale is scheduled for March 13-16 at the Eastgate Branch at 115 Eastgate Drive.

On March 13, the sale is scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. and there will be a $10 entry fee per person.

For the remaining days, the sale is scheduled for 4 to 8 p.m. on March 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 15, and from 1 to 4 p.m. on March 16. There is no entry fee during the last three days.

Books will be half-price on March 16.
