Mayors to discuss issues facing big US cities

CHICAGO (AP) — The mayors of New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Atlanta are set to discuss leadership and the unique issues facing the nation's big cities.

Bill de Blasio of New York, Eric Garcetti of Los Angeles, Rahm Emanuel of Chicago and Kasim Reed of Atlanta are scheduled to speak Thursday at the University of Chicago.

The forum, titled "Leading America's Big Cities in the 21st Century," will be moderated by David Axelrod. A former senior adviser to President Barack Obama, Axelrod now runs the University of Chicago Institute of Politics.

The mayors face similar challenges, from education to crime and even — for at least three of the four — how to keep roads cleared and constituents happy during a snowstorm.

All four are Democrats.
