To the Editor:
Lower taxes and smaller government are two things the Illinois Republican Party stands for, according to its website.
Taxes are driven by government spending.
Government size is driven by the number of agencies and local government bodies.
Which Republican office holders or candidates have proposed eliminating government agencies or local government bodies? Many Republicans I’ve met either pay lip service to their party platform and the U.S. Constitution or ignore them completely.
Andrew Gasser is an exception. Andrew convinced me to pick up the towel I’d thrown in on the GOP, and that public-sector union ownership of Illinois could still be ended.
Andrew has impressed me by seeing that we need to fix Illinois’ biggest problems first – public-sector pensions and government size and spending.
Like Andrew, David Stieper has pledged to refuse benefits and pension, if elected.
