Ali Andrews, Huntley, so., forward
Andrews, the Northwest Herald Player of the Year, became the fastest player in Huntley history to eclipse 1,000 career points, doing it in less than two seasons. She averaged 18.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, 2.0 assists and 1.7 steals a game to help lead the Red Raiders to their first conference title. Andrews, who was named to The Associated Press' Class 4A all-state honorable mention team, scored in double figures in 28 of 31 games and had 15 games of at least 20 points. Her 576 points scored this season are a school record.
Sam Andrews, Huntley, sr., forward
Andrews' illustrious career ended with another great season in which she scored 16.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists a game to help lead Huntley to a record year. She shot an area-best 84 percent at the free-throw line and set a school record for career free-throw percentage (82 percent). Andrews also made 46 3-pointers and is second all-time with 123 career 3-pointers for Huntley. She finishes with 1,465 career points, good for second most in program history.
Katie Barker, Cary-Grove, jr., guard
Barker proved capable of scoring from everywhere on the court and led all area players with 18.7 points a game. The junior guard also grabbed 6.2 rebounds with 1.7 steals a game. Barker set a school record with 77 3-pointers, which were second most in the area, and scored 20-plus points in 14 games.
Sarah Le Beau, Prairie Ridge, sr., guard
Le Beau was a game-changer on both ends of the floor for the Wolves. She averaged a team-best 13.9 points while tallying 3.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.5 steals a game. The senior guard made 83 3-pointers to lead all area players. Le Beau also had the assignment of guarding their opponent's best player each game and was one of the best perimeter defenders.
Sara Mickow, Crystal Lake South, sr., forward
Mickow was one of the best all-around players. Mickow averaged 13.9 points and an area-best 16.1 rebounds, the third straight year she averaged a double-double. The senior forward had 10 games this season with at least 20 rebounds. She finishes her career having amassed more than 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds – 452 of which came this year – in three varsity seasons.
