Rehabbed bald eagle released in Quincy

QUINCY – A bald eagle that was found injured in a west-central Illinois trap last month is free again.

The eagle named General was released Sunday after being nursed back to health at the nonprofit Raptor Rehabilitation Center in Quincy. The send-off followed a Native American blessing.

A volunteer with that center, Karen Roush, called the release "just a very great feeling." She says many times the rehab site takes in birds that are so badly injured they can't be sent back into the wild.

General was found caught in a trap designed for another kind of animal.
