Annual 'Day at Petersen Farm' to remember 1950s

McHENRY – The annual blast from the past at Petersen Farm will include hula hoops, Doo Wop and automobile tail fins.

The farm, located at 4112 McCullom Lake Road, one mile west of Route 31, will open at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 22, with entertainment starting at noon and activities wrapping up at 4 p.m.

Hayrides, children's games, craft demonstration and farm equipment displays will round out the "Day at Petersen Farm." Live bluegrass music will be provided by the Georgia Rae Family Band and the Windy City Magician will perform.

The farmhouse's main floor will be open for tours, showcasing McHenry County life from the 19th and early 20th centuries.

The Petersen Farm was formed in 1840 and donated to the city of McHenry by the Colby and Petersen families to be preserved as an agricultural museum and resource center.

Parking and admission is free. Vendors will be selling refreshments.
