LAKEMOOR – A McHenry man was charged with driving under the influence and several other offenses after he fled multiple crash scenes along Route 120 on Monday.

Allen R. Snyder, 46, of 1800 block of Oak Drive, McHenry, was driving west on Route 120 around 8:40 p.m., when he rear-ended a Volkswagen Jetta near the intersection of Sullivan Lake Road, said Lakemoor Police Chief Dave Godlewski.

Snyder then left the scene and continued west on Route 120, when he crashed into a Chevy Cobalt near the Darrell Road intersection, Godlewski sad.

The McHenry resident also fled that scene and crashed again a few minutes later near Route 120 and Chapel Hill Road in unincorporated McHenry County, Godlewski said.

McHenry County Sheriff's officers took Snyder into custody, only after his car broke down after the third crash, police said.

Only a woman in the second crash was injured, Godlewski said. She received treatment for non-life threatening injuries and was later released from an area hospital.

Snyder subsequently was charged with driving under the influence; two counts of leaving the scene of an accident; two counts of failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident; two counts of driving without insurance; and a citation for failure to wear a seatbelt.
