JOHNSBURG – Childhood stress, obesity and happiness will be delved into at this year's Health and Wellness Expo.
The event, which is hosted by Johnsburg District 12, will take place Saturday, April 5, at Johnsburg High School, 2002 W. Ringwood Road, and is free and open to the public.
The speakers include:
• Derek Kasten, who will discuss long term how to keep children safe and healthy;
• psychologist Chinni Chilamkurti, who will explain how to recognize the symptoms of stress and how to help children cope with stress;
• Sakina Kapadia, who will explore the role of play and how it cultivates a child’s curiosity, social and interpersonal skills; and
• Jill Shaw, who will discuss childhood obesity and how parents can incorporate healthy eating.
The expo will include a vendor fair, a complimentary light lunch and complimentary childcare. Pre-registration recommended, but walk-ins will be accepted.
Day-of registration starts at 8:30 a.m. with the first presentation to follow at 9 a.m.
