Make Tuesday count

To the Editor:

Tuesday’s primary, for many races in McHenry County, is the election as candidates chosen on the Republican ballot are running unopposed in November.

Please consider a vote for Andy Zinke for sheriff. Zinke is the only candidate with the knowledge, passion and experience to serve as the county sheriff.

For county clerk, Mary McClellan has the education and experience required to run efficient and ethical elections, which are the cornerstone of our democracy. McClellan will work to streamline the office without inflating the budget.

Jeff Thorsen, who has been a fierce taxpayer advocate as a council member in Crystal Lake, will bring a new perspective to the county treasurer’s office, with his private sector banking experience.

In County Board District 3, vote for Joe Gottemoller and Nancy Gonsiorek, who each bring unique experience and knowledge to the board.

Now get out and vote Tuesday.

Mike Shorten
