Gonsiorek’s tax record

To the Editor:

Nancy Gonsiorek said she has fought the District 47 School Board to keep its levy flat without success.

Board minutes show she voted to increase the levy. Why did she not just vote “no”? Nancy’s candidate profile from 2011 did not sit well with me. The candidates were asked if they support the administrators getting substantial increases in their pay before retirement to help boost their pension benefits. Her answer was, by giving this incentive of a pay increase before retirement, the board is guaranteed a notice when someone is going to retire that is sufficient to provide for transition.

The portion of my tax bill for the schools is 66 percent and goes up every year. I do not like my tax dollars being spent on increasing someone’s retirement. I cannot vote for Nancy Gonsiorek, who has little regard for my tax dollars.
