To the Editor:
Johnsburg School District 12 voters are being asked for a $41 million blank check.
Voters are not assured of what it will be spent on. They are not being told how much this new debt will cost. This plan is poorly structured and not financially sound. Voters are being told your tax rate will not go up.
A “yes” vote lets them borrow more money as the current debt is paid off. A “no” vote will drop that tax rate off the bills and your taxes will be less. This information has been missing. Where is our transparent government?
Supporters imply you are not for the children, schools or community unless you vote “yes.” I say a “yes” vote is financially irresponsible and not good for the school district, the community and, certainly, not in the best interests of the taxpayers.
Vote “no” to this referendum Tuesday.
