Huntley High students raise money for Special Olympics

HUNTLEY – Student athletes and coaches from Huntley High School recently raised more than $7,800 to support the Special Olympics of Illinois.

The 31 students and four coaches collected the donations as part of the annual "Polar Plunge" event in Fox Lake late last month. Each participant was required to raise a minimum of $75 to take a plunge in the icy waters at Lakefront Park in Fox Lake.

The high school athletic department won the event's school challenge for raising $7,835 in donations. As a prize for winning, the students will lead the parade of athletes at the Special Olympics spring games opening ceremony in Lake Zurich on May 4.
