VERNON HILLS - A hazardous material team has been called to Vernon Hills for an overturned semi truck, according to the Countryside Fire Protection District.

Around 7:15 a.m. the fire protection district called for hazmat after the semi overturned at Route 60 and Butterfield Road and began leaking a chemical onto the roadway.

The intersection will remain closed for at least three hours, the fire protection district said.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area.
