To the Editor:
Regarding Ron Hameetman’s March 7 letter to the editor about the minimum wage, the short answer is “yes.”
Most wages are long overdue for a raise. Over the years, unions have been weakened, so wages lost ground to inflation. If this were reversed, we could all better help strengthen the economic recovery.
Lower- and middle-income people are more likely to put money into the economy because they usually have to. Unsure of the economy, higher-income people have invested in unproductive speculation – part of what got us in trouble.
