Teacher's aide charged with sex assault of student

SKOKIE, Ill. (AP) — A teacher's aide at a suburban Chicago school is charged with sexually assaulting a special needs student.

Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez's office said Friday that 37-year-old Donald Arocho of Chicago faces criminal sexual assault and abuse charges. Bond was set at $300,000.

Arocho works as an aide at a north suburban school for special needs students.

Prosecutors allege the assault happened in late August while Arocho was escorting the student to the bathroom. The student is profoundly intellectually disabled and deaf.

Arocho allegedly took the student into the gymnasium and sexually assaulted the student. Prosecutors say the alleged victim told family members, who took the student to a local hospital.
