Obama library

Published: Friday, March 28, 2014 5:30 a.m. CDT

To the Editor:

In the “Views” (March 20) column by Scott Reeder, the subject of state funding for an Obama library is just what Illinois needs to speed up the trip to bankruptcy.

I agree with Mr. Reeder that private funds should be used, because I don’t think Illinois can afford the $100 million pledge that Speaker Michael Madigan is proposing. At this time, Illinois can’t buy a toilet seat for the library.

On that subject, I would like to be one of the first to donate. I have a two-holer at my lake property in northern Wisconsin that needs a new home and would be a great place for his library, plus the ambience of down home.
