Reasons for rejection
To the Editor:
As someone who has attended all the hearings regarding the construction of a cell tower next to the ski jump in Fox River Grove, I would like to clear up some misconceptions stated by Kyle Walker in his March 25 letter to the editor.
First of all, the village of Fox River Grove would not receive one cent of revenue from the proposed cell tower. All revenue would go to the nonprofit entity of Norge Ski Club. The club already is receiving considerable revenue from the 12 antennae now attached to the ski jump.
As far as cell/data coverage go, we are well covered in our small town. Besides the 12 on the ski jump, we have numerous antennae on our village water tower (for which the village does receive the revenue). We do not suffer from dead zones as do some of our neighboring communities, which repeatedly have rejected the construction of cell towers.
Adding this huge tower would not help the village residents in any way. It would simply sully our distinctive skyline. It is not needed, and it is of no benefit financially to our village. Therefore, the rejection.
